The planning is organised around a central courtyard featuring a swimming pool and outdoor entertaining area, establishing a sheltered outdoor space that forms the heart of the home. The primary living areas open directly onto this courtyard, strengthening the relationship between the interior and landscape while allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the home's living spaces. The upper level accommodates a private parents' retreat overlooking the courtyard, while additional spaces including a games room, sauna and caravan storage reflect the clients' lifestyle and long-term needs.
A restrained material palette of face brick, textured render and vertical cladding provides a contemporary architectural expression, complemented by timber detailing that introduces warmth and texture throughout the outdoor living areas. Carefully positioned glazing frames views across the courtyard while reinforcing the connection between internal and external spaces.
Passive design principles informed the planning of the residence, with northern solar access maximised to the main living areas and deep roof overhangs providing seasonal shading.
